Saw Divergent. Enjoyed it more than I expected.

I anticipate the next two (three FML) movies in the "trilogy" Back in my day directors would just say fuck it and just make the third into a four and a half hour movie and be done with it. But the accountants say "make another movie instead" so everyone gets paid yo.

I liked the last Hobbit movie.

I saw Gone Girl - which was basically Basic Instinct.

I also saw Snowpiercer, which I thought was great for an indy sci fit. Recommend.

I'm one of those people who think that if you make a book into a movie you should actually follow the book. In that regard, the Hobbit was a travesty.

There definitely was stuff in these films that bugged the hell out of me. But there was also a lot of canon from the appendixes added to the movie that were not in the book, but were apart of the history and were written by Tolkien.

In fact, after Tolkien flushed more of Middle Earth out, he wanted to make changes to the Hobbit.

BTW, I've come to expect changes by Peter Jackson. He also made changes to LOTR which bothered me at the time.

If these are to be faithful adaptations, they need to be done as a mini series by the BBC or something.

I would watch a mini-series that was 100% faithful adaptation of the book, however I don't think that happens for another 15 years or so at least (to let the memory of Peter Jackson's work die)

Agreed, that and the rights to it etc. (unless it's Warner making it). It'll definitely be awhile.

Too bad the Silmarilian will never be made. Unless Christopher Tolkien passes and one of the rights holders in the family decides to cash in.
