His career might be over. I've read several articles that point to this. If so, that fucking sucks. The face of the NHL who's only been with us for a handful of season, finished because of some cheap head shots.

That'd be terrible for the league, especially with the downfall of Ovenchicken. The young guys in the league now playing for Edmonton won't be able to do for the NHL what Sid does, only because they're in Edmonton. Sid made the casual fan really pay attention to the sport and gave something for ESPN to showcase.

Hopefully he's not done, but those rumblings won't go away.

Hopefully, it's still just part of his recovery.

CBC Sports: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/sto ... ml?cmp=rss

Quote:
Crosby said he wasn’t feeling 100 per cent after taking a few hits during a 3-1 loss to the Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins last week.

While he did pass a baseline concussion test, he won’t return unless he’s completely comfortable with his health status.

“The ImPACT [testing] isn't everything,” he said. “You have to listen to your body on these things too. That was encouraging. My ImPACT was much, much worse after I did it in January. This is something I have to be careful with.”

I certainly hope that's not the case.

The NHL needs him.

They need to drastically penalize players that end other player careers. IMO, if you intentionally injure somone and end their career, you shouldn't be allowed to play the game ever again.

I agree with this.

Obvious intent is one thing (Bertuzzi). It's the "accidentally / on purpose" things that cause a huge gray area. Did the player mean it? Or not?

I'm pretty sure you can deem intentional through replays.

That would really suck if his career was over at such a young age. The only positives is that he at least he won world jr's, scored the ot game winning goal to wiin a gold medal at the olympics, and of course win the Stanley cup. Plus all the awards he achieved.

How many players out there play 18-20 years and dont accomplish any of that.
