What would it realistically take to get tampas 3rd overall??

Would it the 6th and 28th be enough?

I've done a fuckload of preview/scout/youtube package watching lately in addition to listening to lunas incessant rambling and a tonne of reading, plus caught some of the (particularly the last) games of the memorial cup and just feel Drouin could be a real stud player to build around. Just the thought of having a team in 2-3 years with a young drouin and a young baertschi reaching their preceived potential leading the way has me salivating. Plus if we kept the 22nd we'd have a half decent shot at landing Gauthier, giving us, for once, some serious all around depth/skill in the forward ranking.

With all that said, I have a bad feeling any moves we make into the top 3 would HAVE to have one of glennx, gio or brodie included to have a real shot of getting the deal done (particularly with tampa - glennx with precieved malone buyout and glennx's friendly cap hit)

I think Drouin may be the most underrated player of the draft. Everyone wants that top centre / top defenseman though, so he could fall - maybe even to 4 or 5.

What I'd really like is another pick in the top six, and I would trade Gaudreau to get there too. Maybe Baertschi.

Gaudreau & 22 for 4 might be close.

Not Baert. Unfuckingtouchable. And knowing our luck, we'd trade gauds and that 22nd and in 3-4 years gauds would become st.louis 2.0

My onlly concern with Bart is his seeming inability to stay healthy.

Guys? Updated roster time!

FORWARDS
Sven Baertschi ($1.425m) / Mike Cammalleri ($6.000m) / David Jones ($4.000m)
Roman Horak ($0.805m) / Mikael Backlund ($2.500m) / Jiri Hudler ($4.000m)
Curtis Glencross ($2.550m) / Matt Stajan ($3.500m) / Lee Stempniak ($2.500m)
Lance Bouma ($0.600m) / Max Reinhart ($0.878m) / Tim Jackman ($0.613m)
Ben Hanowski ($0.900m) / Greg Nemisz ($0.827m) /

DEFENSEMEN
Dennis Wideman ($5.250m) / T.J. Brodie ($2.500m)
Mark Giordano ($4.020m) / Chris Butler ($2.000m)
Shane O'Brien ($2.000m) / Mark Cundari ($0.605m)
Derek Smith ($0.775m) /

GOALTENDERS
Karri Ramo ($2.500m)
Joey MacDonald ($0.925m)

------

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $51,673,125; BONUSES: $996,250

CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $13,623,125

I put Jones on the first line as he's a garbage man. Scores all of his goals from within 10 feet of the net. He's also a "big body presence" even thoguh not overly physical, but he will create some room for Bart & Squid.

Horak on the 2nd line is kind of meh. I'd prefer another solid RW to put Hudler back on the proper side of the ice, or a centre so Squid can go back to the wing.

3rd line is wicked awesome.

4th line is decent - glad to have Bouma back and healthy, and perhaps Reinhart has earned a full time spot on the team. One of Jackman/Hanowski/Nemisz take the final spot.

Defense is okay, not great. Not horrible. They're reasonably mobile though, and in Hartley's system that's what is needed.

Biggest question mark is in net. Is Ramo good enough? Can Berra steal a job? It wouldn't surprise me if Berra winds up being the backup over MacDonald - he looked capable in my limited viewings of him play (I'd even say impressive at the Spengler Cup)

I could still see the Flames dipping into free agency and overpaying to address some of the needs listed above.

After thinking about it, if Monahan is going to be on a shitty team next season, should that shitty team be in the CHL or the NHL. I think he'll get more out of it in the NHL.

Sven Baertschi ($1.425m) / Sean Monahan ($3.750m) / David Jones ($4.000m)
Lance Bouma ($0.578m) / Corban Knight ($0.650m) / Tim Jackman ($0.613m)
Roman Horak ($0.805m) / Greg Nemisz ($0.827m) /

Feaster claimed otherwise during the STH meetings.

I noticed during the draft that the Fan 960 (Steinberg I think) was cutting him down as a fail basically. Using him as an example of a player who rode on the coat-tails of a good team to inflate his draft ranking and has proven to be a huge disappointment.

Feaster has not said anything negative about him that I have heard but I'm sure this year will be his last kick at the cat regardless. Some people say he can't keep up with the fast pace, some say his injuries have held him back. He's been given a qualifying offer anyway.
